I've been thrilled with the great reports coming in from the east coast. After the three yesterday from Reading PA, Williamsport PA, and Verbank NY; I've received 3 more today so far. The first one is from Jason Breakiron in Manassas, VA. The second is from Julie Fote in Allentown, PA. The third one is from Mike Perretta in West Chester, PA. If I receive more reports today, I'll send them out in another batch. Thanks again to all who have submitted accounts. Wednesday we had 3.07 inches from a general rain either system related or floyd. Between 4am last night & 5pm we had 5.76 inches, total 2 day precip of 8.83 in the rain gauge here. Wind peak gust was to 58 mph. Lots of trees down, power lines & heavy flooding. The clouds where really amazing to watch. Now it's a very cool, calm night here with the stars. Jason Breakiron 30 Miles SSW of Washington D.C. ************************************* ***** ALLENTOWN, PA **************** ************************************* We got our share of Floyd here in Allentown, too. Aetna let Charlie out of work at 1 (he's a writer in the marketing dept., don't worry; he hasn't turned nurse on us!). It poured here all day yesterday and most of the overnight, and we could see the Little Lehigh Creek (which is usually not even visible from our apt) overtaking all the cars at the local garage below us. By bedtime, most of the cars were totally submerged. When we got into bed, the high winds we'd been warned about came. They said they'd gust up to 85 MPH and I believe it. Our power was out, and for the first time ever, PP&L (this portion of PA's power company) lost their power and phone service! All night I kept hearing emergency vehicles racing across the bridge outside, so it must have been one crazy night here. We woke up to a blue and pink sky, and the water that had covered the cars left only puddles in the parking lot. What a crazy thing, these storms! Thanks for the warnings! Julie ************************************** **** WEST CHESTER, PA **************** ************************************** Well let's see... Lots o' rain and wind, two trees in our yard that had branches torn off... we will probably have to remove the one tree. Good amount of flooding in our basement. We bailed out a 30 gallon trash can that caught the water as it shot from the wall in little streams. We probably bailed out about 4 or more cans worth. Anyway, I also heard that many people had problems driving due to many road closings as a result of flooding. Also, I have heard of people near here whose apartments or houses were completely flooded. Mike ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brian D.
