Keep 'em comin' boys, keep 'em comin'. TD7 moves inland, TD8 forms. TD7: Tropical Depression #7 never made it to TS strength, and so it was never named. It make landfall just north of Tampico yesterday morning and since then has been dumping huge amounts of rain on northeast Mexico. The last advisory on this storm was issued by NHC at 15Z today. TD8: At 21Z today, TD8 was officially declared. The storm is in a very favorable region for further strengthening, and the system is likely to be named (Floyd) by Wednesday afternoon and reach hurricane status by Thursday night. As of 03Z on the 7th, TD8 was located at 15.2N 47.5W (about 900 miles east of Guadeloupe) and moving WNW at 16mph. Max winds were 35mph and the MSLP was 1007mb. Vertical shear is low and SST's are about 28.5C. The position of this storm is such that landfall on the US east coast is not out of the question. More to follow on that as the system develops. Floyd will be the 4th hurricane of the 99 season if he makes it that far (and he should). Brian ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brian D.
