5/13/02 Sleep deprivation caught up with us all this a.m., and we slept to the unprecedented hour of 10am. We knew today would be a down day, so we traveled north to Norman, were we're holed up in a Super 8 on Main Street. For a down day, we managed to stay unbelievably busy with planning our annual meeting, updating our notes, purging our computers, cleaning out "the swamp" (van), editing photos, touching base with people at home, and updating our web page. Brian posted a few pictures from the previous days at www.mcwar.org in the gallery, and more pictures can be seen at www.allandetrich.com after about noon tomorrow. On our way from Texas to Norman, we made a point of bookmarking the town of Gainesville, TX as a good place to set up. There are hotels, restaurants, computer repair shops, and just about everything we would ever need. It's in an area with good chase terrain nearby; flat land, nearly unlimited visibility, and a fairly decent road network. At this point, we're of the mind that there is very little likelihood of anything happening weather-wise until possibly Wednesday, and we are watching the area of western KS for that day. There are no overwhelming indications that anything will even happen Wednesday, but when faced with a run of "nice days", one has to keep one's chin up and hold to the thought that every silver lining has a dark cloud. We'll be leaving tomorrow morning for Medicine Lodge, KS which is the unofficial home of MESO since 1998. we love the people, the restaurant, the land, everything about it.
